Before you use the iPad application for OSCE delivery you will first need to install it on the respective devices. This can be carried out individually per device, or using bulk device management tools such as Apple Configurator, or another mobile device manager. Each of these methods is explained below.

Once the app has been installed, please see our article on device management for information on how to pair the app with the instance.

Direct install from the App Store

The most recent version of the application can be found here or by searching "risr/ assess" on the App Store. Simply download and install in the usual way.

Apple Configurator

Apple Configurator is a device management application provided by Apple and can be used for bulk management of controlled devices. You can download it from the app store here. A user guide is also available here.

Once Configurator is installed on the control device, follow these steps to push out the risr/ assess application to other controlled devices.

  1. Log in to the App Store within Configurator
  2. Download the risr/ assess app to Configurator (via Actions > Add > Apps) and search for the app.
  3. The app is then available to be added to other devices or to a blueprint.

You might find that there are no results returned when you search for the risr/ assess application in Configurator. If this happens, you should install it directly onto one device according tor the method described above and then sync that device to the control device running Apple Configurator.

Mobile device manager

There are many third-party mobile device management solutions and it is not possible to provide instructions for each, however, the principle is generally the same as described above. Once the app is obtained on the control device, it can be pushed to the recipient devices en masse.
