This article is intended to give a very broad overview of how your risr/ assess site is structured, and to help you to start to find your way around.

General navigation

The site is organised into a series of tabs and these broadly align with the different functions within the assessment process.

The tabs are laid out as shown:

  • Dashboard: Any published exams are pushed to the dashboard area which is then used for on the day exam administration and monitoring.
  • Blueprints: This is where users can design site taxonomies/metadata values and create exam blueprints/templates for use throughout the site.
  • Items: All item authorship takes place in the items tab. Clicking this tab will take you directly to the item bank.
  • Item sets: Items are grouped together into items sets (or "exam papers") to be delivered to candidates in exams. Those item sets are built here.
  • Exams: The exams area is where items sets as well as candidate and any examiner or simulated patient details are brought together and scheduled into examination events.
  • Resources: The resources bank can be found here. Any additional images, station scripts or other documents attached to items are indexed in the resource bank.
  • Reports: All longitudinal reports live here, including the Candidate History report, the Examiner History report and the Cumulative Cut Score report.
  • Help: Various links out to help resources, including back to this very knowledge base.
  • Settings: Most of the site admin settings are under this menu (see the next section for a detailed description).
  • Log out: Log out of the system completely.

Tab visibility is determined by permissions assigned to user groups. It may be the case that individual users see fewer of the tabs shown above if their permissions are restricted to anything less that administrator access

All site admin options live under the settings menu:

  • Users: Create full user accounts for colleagues and staff. This includes anyone who needs access to system backend functions (i.e. anyone who is not a candidate, OSCE examiner or simulated patient).
  • User groups: Manage user group structure, permissions and membership. User groups are used to control the site permissions for users.
  • Devices: Control device enrolment on the site (e.g. iPads for examiners or candidate computers) and therefore which devices can access the site's data.
  • Background tasks: Where a processing task is to big to complete instantaneously it will be processed in the background. The list of processing tasks is available here.
  • Reference ranges: Any common clinical reference ranges can be established here to create convenience and ensure consistency during authorship.
  • OSCE marksheet tools: Any common OSCE mark sheet attributes are built here. This includes any sections, schema values or global measurement criteria.
  • Manage live dashboard: Specify which values should be included in the live exam dashboard (discrete values or aggregate scores).
  • Exam management tools: Create exam participant records such as candidates, examiners and role players/simulated patients.
