Item usage

The item overview tab provides information about where the item has been used in both item sets and exams. As the item is used across the site, that information is fed back to the item bank and displayed in the tab.

In the example OSCE station shown below you can see information about its usage split into two sections:

1. Shows information about which item sets the item has been added to.
2. Shows information about which exams the item appears in
3. Note that this view shows only the current version of the item (i.e. the item sets and exams with which version 3 of item #1105 is associated). Click the button to display all versions of the item in a single list.

Usage in item sets

Breaking down the item sets section into a little more detail:

1. This is the name of the exam blueprint used to generate the item set. The link is clickable and will take you to the exam blueprint page.
2. These are the titles of the item sets in which the item has been used, grouped by the exam blueprint from which the item set was generated. The links are clickable and will take you to the item set view. In this example, version 3 of item #1105 has been used in two item sets that were both generated using the same exam blueprint.
3. If the item set has undergone an Ebel scoring process for standard setting, the value attributed to the item will be shown here (or the site default if no process has taken place). The top row shows the mean Ebel value.
4. This is a simple count of the number of times the item (or version of the item) has been used. In this example, once in each item set, twice for the exam blueprint and therefore twice in total.
5. Using the dropdown you can directly add the item to any existing item sets that have room for it. The item sets shown in the list (see below) will be those where the item doesn't already appear and where it would not contravene any exam blueprint constraints if it were added.

Usage in exams

Similar values are shown for the item's usage in exams:

1. The exam blueprint from which the exam was built. The link is clickable and will take you to the exam blueprint page.
2. The title(s) of the exams in which the item has been used, grouped by exam blueprint. The links are clickable and will take you to the exam set standard screen. In this example, although version 3 of item #1105 appears in two item sets, only one of those item sets has so far made it into an exam.
3. If the item was attributed an Ebel value for the exam, it will be shown here (or the site default if no Ebel process has taken place). The top row shows the mean Ebel value.
4. This is a simple count of the number of times the item (or version of the item) has been used in exams. In this example, it appears in one exam only, and therefore once in total.
