Once an exam has been created with the necessary exam settings, item set, candidate, examiner, observer, marshal and role player allocations, it must be published to make it available for participants. Publishing the exam ensures the exam is deployed to the browser or iPad application for access.
To publish an exam:

Navigate to the exam's view sessions screen and locate the Publish to devices button. Clicking publish to devices will deploy the exam for access in the browser or iPad application. This step will enable all participants to view and select the exam from the list of exams available to them.

The system will prepare the exam for each session as a background task. The progress can be monitored from the view sessions page or by navigating to settings > background tasks.

Once the exam is published, the status will display DONE on the view sessions page and the exam will appear under Exams in Progress on the Dashboard (if the exam is not 'Hidden'). Participants will now be able to log in and download the exam.
Once the exam is published, the exam setup cannot be modified. It is not possible to modify the exam settings, the selected item set, and the candidate, examiner, observer and role-player data. If any changes need to be made, you will need to reset the exam. Please see the dedicated article on resetting the exam.
