Candidate, examiner, SP notes

In order that the OSCE can run successfully, stations will usually need sets of instructions for the candidate and the examiner (and, optionally, the simulated patient). The OSCE item type has specific functionality that enables this documentation to be stored agains the item as appropriate.

There are two ways you can add these documents to items; either as an uploaded resource, or by using the built in what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) editor. Which method you choose will depend on your circumstances, however the advantage of using the built-in editor is that documents remain editable when stations are reviewed and updated. If you use uploaded documents these will need to be removed from the item and replaced if they undergo any editing.

Adding notes to the item

To add documentation using the WYSIWYG editor:

Managing notes

As notes are added, they will appear on the item page under the resources tab.

There are several further options:

  1. Download: Downloads the individual file to your machine
  2. Edit: Edit the document either inhe WYSIWYG editor or by uploading a new file.
  3. Remove: Completely remove the resource from the item.
  4. Export notes PDF: Exports a composite document including all notes present on the item.
