Once items have been created in risr/ assess, you can package them into an item set to be used in exams. Essentially an exam paper! Item sets can be created either by manually adding items to a set, or automatically buy asking risr/ assess to pick items that meet the parameters set out in the exam blueprint.
You can access the item set bank by clicking Item Sets from the top menu bar. Using the filters and sorting options available, you can quickly search for the item set you wish to view (approved item sets) or edit (draft or pending item sets). From this page, you can also create new item sets.
The first section covers managing an item set, excluding items, adding item set sections and station groups. While working on an item set, you can preview and download the item set to ensure the accuracy of the item set.
Access to item sets within the item set bank can be restricted based on permissions assigned through the user profiles.
Navigating the item set bank
When navigating the item set bank, here is a high-level overview of the columns and actions available on this page.
- ID / Version: By default, the ID is a unique number automatically generated to identify the item set and can be changed later. The item set version indicates the most recent and up-to-date iteration of the item set.
- Title: This column indicates the given name of the item set and can be changed when the item set is in the draft status.
- Exam blueprint: The exam blueprint indicated in this column will determine the constraints of the item set. For each item set, you can also review the blueprint satisfaction report to determine if the item set meets the requirements of the exam blueprint.
- Status: Depending on how your instance was configured, you may see more than the default three item status, draft, pending, and approved.
- Items: The number in the item column indicates the number of items assigned to the specific item set.
- Times used: The system will count the item sets as used once the item set is used in a finalized exam.
- Last used: The last used column indicates the most recent exam date the item set was applied to. If the item has never been used in an exam, the system will indicate the date as Never.
- Create a new item set: Once you have created your items for an exam, you want to group them by creating an item set.
-
Warning: The warning icon (
) indicates that the item set requires your attention. The warning icon will only appear if there's a message within the item set.
- View/Edit: Clicking the View button on approved item sets will bring you to the selected item set page where you can view the item set details, assign items, and view the version history and activity. If the item is still in a draft or pending state, you can edit the item set by clicking Edit.
