risr/ assess supports the use of multimedia and static resources both to enhance the examination experience for candidates as well as to store important information and artefacts against individual items. For example, you might wish to provide visual or audio prompts about which candidates can answer questions. Your OSCE stations are also likely to need physical artefacts and prompts (e.g. candidate/examiner instructions, clinical information sheets, x-rays/ECGs etc.).

Common resource files include images, videos, audio files and documents, and the following file types are supported:

Resource Type File Type
Images PNG, JPEG, DICOM
Audio MP3
Video  MP4
Document

PDF

Further advice on the use of images as resources is available in the dedicated article.

Resources are all housed in the resource bank which acts as a central, version-controlled repository to help streamline storage and management and to minimise repetition and redundancy of materials.

  1. Global resources: Add, download and edit global resources
  2. Filter by item: Pivots the filters and list view from a simple index of resources to display information about the items to which the resources are attached.
  3. Create new resource: Add resource to the resource library.
  4. Create multiple resources: Add multiple resources to the resource library at once.
  5. Download: Download the resources file to your device.
  6. View: Opens the resource in a preview window from where it can be edited and replaced. The preview also shows the the version history, and activity.
The preview window is of fixed dimensions and may not display the entire image. <complete this when I can get back into the site>

Versioning and document management

Like items and items sets, resources are version controlled. Once the resource is approved it can only be changed by creating a new version.
